Starting therapy- what to expect

Therapy is a focused space to talk about what’s been difficult, understand patterns in your thoughts and feelings, and learn practical tools to support your wellbeing. Sessions last 50 minutes and finish on time so there is space between appointments. Typically, sessions take place weekly, but this can change depending on your needs and the progress you’re making.

In therapy we will:

  • look at what’s affecting your emotional and/or physical health

  • explore helpful ways of managing thoughts, feelings and behaviours

  • agree on small steps or strategies to try between sessions

  • review progress together and adjust as needed

  • complete questionnaires where relevant to the issue to understand what is going on for you

You don’t need to have everything figured out before you start — we work together to understand what you need and how best to support you.

If you need any adjustments to therapy—such as different seating, shorter sessions, or other practical changes—we can discuss this together before the session so everything feels as comfortable and accessible as possible.

Face‑to‑face sessions take place on the first floor, which means the space is not accessible to wheelchair users at this time. There is a toilet available on site. If you have any mobility needs or require adjustments, please let me know so we can explore suitable options, including online sessions.
